• State Announces Funding Hikes For Towns, How Much Did Canton Get? (patch.com) — Canton residents will see nearly $200,000 in new state aid under Connecticut’s fiscal year 2027 budget adjustment, with most of it directed to local schools. Officials say the added education and municipal funding is meant to plug budget gaps, ease pressure on property taxes, and help stabilize or possibly lower local mill rates.    

• Canton HS Does Well In The Game Of Science (patch.com) — Canton High School’s Science Olympiad team turned in a strong showing at the state finals, placing 16th out of 46 teams and earning multiple medals and top-eight finishes. With a growing roster and expanded coaching support, the program now aims to crack the statewide top five in coming years, showcasing Canton students’ strength in STEM.    

• Collinsville Press wins two Excellence in Journalism awards (collinsvillepress.com) — Collinsville Press has earned two state journalism awards, including first place for a feature revisiting Canton High’s unlikely 1986 state baseball championship run. Editor Gerry deSimas Jr. was also honored for commentary on the Connecticut Sun’s proposed move, continuing a long streak of recognition for the local outlet’s in-depth sports coverage.
