CANTON, CT — The Town of Canton Fire & EMS announced this week that its Fire Cadet Program has reached 15 members, marking the program’s largest enrollment since 2010.
Department officials said the growth reflects renewed interest among young people pursuing careers in fire and emergency medical services.
“Seeing this program grow again is something we are incredibly proud of,” the department said in a statement shared on social media.
Officials described the cadets as “the future of the fire service and the future of our department.”
To mark the milestone, the department also unveiled a redesigned Cadet Program patch featuring a more modern look.
The Fire Cadet Program provides young participants with exposure to firefighting and EMS operations while helping prepare the next generation of emergency responders.
“Thank you to everyone who continues to support the next generation of firefighters and EMS providers,” the department added.
Residents interested in the cadet program can contact the department at membership@cantonfd.com or attend cadet training sessions held on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. at Station One, 51 River Road.
