CANTON, CT — With America celebrating a very, very special 250th birthday this Saturday, July 4, Canton leaders have announced municipal impacts regarding services in town.
The Canton Public Library will close for two days this week as the town observes the Independence Day holiday.
The library will be closed Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, before reopening under its regular schedule.
Like the rest of the state, Canton municipal offices observe the Independence Day holiday on Friday, July 3.
Because many town departments, including Canton Town Hall, operate on a four-day workweek and are typically closed on Fridays, the holiday will have minimal impact on normal municipal operations.
The town also observes all official federal and Connecticut state holidays.
Residents should expect municipal offices, schools, and other public services to close on those dates, with the transfer station and other services adjusting their schedules during major holidays.
Residents planning to visit the Canton Public Library over the holiday weekend are encouraged to do so before the closures begin.
