CANTON, CT — Summer is almost over for Canton students, with the first day of school for most students being Thursday, Aug. 27.

Here are some of the important 2026-27 school year dates for the Canton School System:

Start date: Wednesday, Aug. 26 (12th-grade); Thursday, Aug. 27 for the rest.

Election Day: Tuesday, Nov. 3

Thanksgiving break: Thursday, Nov. 26, through Friday, Nov. 27.

Winter break: Thursday, Dec. 24, through Friday, Jan. 1., 2027

Martin Luther King Jr. Day: Monday, Jan. 18, 2027

Presidents' Day Recess: Monday, Feb. 15, 2027, to Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2027.

Spring break: Monday, April 12, 2027, to Friday, April 16, 2027.

Last day of school (tentative): Tuesday, June 8, 2027.
