About Canton Dollars for Scholars

Canton Dollars for Scholars is our local chapter of the national organization Scholarship America. In 1958, Dr. Irving Fradkin, an optometrist from Fall River, Massachusetts, founded Dollars for Scholars as a challenge to his fellow Fall River residents to each contribute one dollar toward a fund for all of the community's youth to attend college. For over 60 years and counting, Dollars for Scholars/Scholarship America has been helping students of all levels and aspirations to pursue education beyond high school.

Our Canton chapter was founded in 1986. Each year we are growing and are able to award more scholarships through the generous donations of community members and businesses.
