Canton Fire & EMS and local police responded as part of a busy day that pushed the department's 2026 call volume to 1,407 incidents, underscoring the growing demand on emergency services in town.
   

• Sams ties co-op record with 5 TDs in a game in Granby/Canton's victory (collinsvillepress.com) — Canton football fans saw a big night as the Granby/Canton co-op rolled to a 50–20 win over SMSA, powered by five touchdowns from standout Elijah Sams. The victory, played Thursday in Granby, tied the co-op record for most TDs in a game and showcased a strong offensive performance from both Sams and quarterback Joe Lewie.
