CANTON, CT — Canton Parks and Recreation is inviting residents to celebrate Halloween while supporting local families in need through two events scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 17, in Collinsville.
The department's Halloween on the River celebration will feature a morning Pilates class followed by games, music and trick-or-treating.
Instead of charging traditional admission fees, organizers are asking participants to bring nonperishable food donations to benefit the Canton Food Bank, which serves residents experiencing food insecurity.
Both events require advance registration, which closes Thursday, Oct. 15, at 3 p.m.
The morning will begin with "Flex for a Cause: Pilates for the Pantry," a Halloween-themed fitness class designed for participants of all experience levels.
The class combines traditional Pilates exercises with functional strength training for a full-body workout.
Participants must bring three nonperishable food items instead of paying a registration fee. All donated items will go to the Canton Food Bank.
