CANTON, CT — If you were a Canton volunteer firefighter/EMT, Monday was so manic, even the Bangles would have been impressed.
That's because Canton Fire and EMS crews responded to 15 emergency calls in a single day, including a vehicle fire, a mutual aid response to Avon, and 11 medical emergencies, according to the department.
The department reported four fire-related incidents and 11 medical calls during the busy day.
Among the incidents was a vehicle fire that prompted a response from the department's daytime fire crew.
According to Canton Fire and EMS, firefighters arrived at the scene and began applying water to the fire in less than five minutes from the time of dispatch.
The department also provided mutual aid assistance to the Town of Avon during another fire-related response.
In addition to the four fire-related calls, emergency medical personnel handled 11 medical emergencies throughout the day.
One of those incidents required a response from Car 11, the department's backup ambulance, during the shift change between daytime and nighttime crews.
Canton Fire and EMS said the number of calls illustrates the ongoing demand for emergency services and the importance of maintaining around-the-clock response capabilities.
"Days like today highlight the continued demand for emergency services and the dedication of our members, who remain ready to respond around the clock to serve our community," the department said in a social media post.
