CANTON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• At the conclusion of the 2017-18 academic year, 18 graduating seniors from Eastern Connecticut State University were recognized at the Honors Program Reception. Among those celebrated was Lillian Hyde of Collinsville, who majors in Biology. Hyde's thesis is titled "Assessment of Microglia Function in Brain and Blood Microenvironments."
• Eastern Connecticut State University recently released its spring 2018 semester Dean's List for full-time students. Honorees from Canton and their majors are: Alexia Bohnenkamper, Environmental Earth Science; Emily Chouinard, Finance; Lillian Hyde, Biology; and Julia Thompson, Social Work. In order to be named to the Dean's List, Eastern students must achieve a GPA of 3.5 or higher for the semester.

University of New Hampshire, Durham NH

• Olivia Pelehach of Canton graduated Cum Laude from the University of New Hampshire in May 2018. She earned a BA degree in Communication. Students who received the honor of Cum Laude graduated with a GPA of 3.50-3.64.
