Bearingstar Insurance Supports Avon Volunteer Fire Department

The Bearingstar Insurance Charitable Fund today announced its donation of $1,500 to support the Live Fire Training Facility in Farmington, Connecticut. The Avon Volunteer Fire Department (AVFD) has partnered with the Farmington Fire Department to construct a state-of-the-art Live Fire Training Facility, which will allow AVFD members to train in realistic settings.

Having a local training facility with realistic sets and scenarios will make it easier for volunteers to train frequently enough to reach proficiency. The new facility will also make it easier for volunteers to train with colleagues within their own fire companies, as well as with those in mutual aid communities.

The AVFD’s total goal is to raise $500,000 to construct and maintain the facility. One of the recent fundraisers dedicated towards this goal was the first annual Avon Volunteer Fire Department Golf Tournament held last month at the Farmington Woods Golf Club in Avon. The Bearingstar Insurance Charitable Fund, in partnership with employee David Bauer, proudly supported the tournament as Assistant Chief Sponsor with a donation of $1,500 to the AVFD.

“It is extremely important to support the AVFD,” said Bauer, an insurance consultant at Bearingstar’s Avon office. “As a resident of Avon, I appreciate the training that our volunteer firefighters go through to achieve the same level of proficiency as career firefighters. Having a local training facility will make it easier for them to train and will be a great benefit to the Town of Avon.”
