CANTON, CT — Folks searching for a unique and different form of artistic entertainment might want to come to Canton Friday night, part of a three-day event that ventures into area towns as well.

That's when the National Beat Poetry Foundation will host the 2023 National and International Beat Poetry Festival at Canton Town Hall.

A total of 18 noted beat poetry performers will take the stage Friday at the 4 Market St. site, which is located in the Collinsville section of Canton.

Friday's program is from 7 to 10 p.m. and features "Beat Laureates" reading for 3 minutes each and an open mic program for anyone willing to step up and perform.

While there is no specific admission fee, there is a so-called "Karma Jar" where donations are being sought for $5 to $10 each.

Proceeds help the organization put on the programs.

On Saturday, the second day of the festival will take place from 1 to 6 p.m. at 22 River Road, Pleasant Valley/Barkamstead.

Performances there will be under a tent in the private property's backyard, with a "Karma Jar" there too.

Sunday's program is even more different, as it will be a virtual Zoom program featuring performers from throughout the country.
