Brush Pickup Continues

Brush-related drop-off, burn permits still free of charge through Dec. 17.

While the town continues its curb-side brush pickup, residents are also still encouraged to bring storm-related brush to property owned by Dean Martel free of charge until Dec. 17. The land is near 146 Powder Mill Road.

The pile is for storm-related brush only and anything brought there will help the town with its efforts, Chief Administrative Officer Robert Skinner said.

In addition, the town planned to put three crews on the road for brush pick-up, Monday, Dec. 5, Skinner said late last week.

The town began the effort in mid November and the process is taking a little longer than hoped, partially due to a little less help from the Department of Transportation than originally anticipated and some equipment breakdowns.

However, he said the town is still well within its $22,720 cost estimate for the pickup. The town has also sent out a request for proposals for the grinding of the material.
