- At Eastern Connecticut State University, resident assistants (RAs) have the role of guiding and aiding students with on-campus residential living. They are carefully selected by staff in the Department of Housing and Residential Life through a process of information sessions and personal interviews. After being hired, they are trained to provide an environment that encourages success and positive student development. Among the RAs selected for the spring 2018 semester is Lillian Hyde of Collinsville, whose major is Biology and Biochemistry.

- Tunxis Community College in Farmington has announced the names of those students who have qualified for the Dean’s List for the fall 2017 semester. Students matriculated in a certificate or degree program who have earned a semester grade point average of 3.4 or higher and have successfully completed 12 or more credits, or have earned 12 credits cumulatively over multiple semesters, are eligible for this academic honor. Canton honorees are Sydney Brickey, Bryce Contrastano, Drew De La Vega, Kendra Jacques, Kristopher Lucadamo, Lynzee Mills, Jacob Norton, Nicole Powe and Athena Skenderidis.
University of New Hampshire, Durham NH
- A trio of students from Canton have been named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire for the fall 2017 semester: Olivia Pelehach, Honors; Dean Yost, Honors; and Amanda Gottlieb, High Honors. Students named to the Dean's List at the University of New Hampshire are students who have earned recognition through their superior scholastic performance during a semester enrolled in a full-time course load (12 or more graded credits). Highest honors are awarded to students who earn a semester grade point average of 3.85 or better out of a possible 4.0. Students with a 3.65 to 3.84 average are awarded high honors and students whose grade point average is 3.5 through 3.64 are awarded honors.

- Nahyun Kang of Canton was among more than 1,600 students named to The University of Scranton's Dean's List for the 2017 fall semester. The Dean's List recognizes students for academic excellence. A student must have a grade point average of 3.5 or better with a minimum number of credit hours during the semester to make the Dean's List. Kang is a senior biochemistry, cell, molecular biology major in the University's College of Arts and Sciences.
