Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT
- Displays of research and creativity filled the Student Center at Eastern Connecticut State University on April 13 for the annual CREATE conference. CREATE stands for "Celebrating Research Excellence and Artistic Talent at Eastern," and is the University's premier undergraduate conference of the academic year.
Presenters from Canton were Alexia Bohnenkamper, who majors in Environmental Earth Science and gave a poster presentation titled "Progress Towards Meeting A 20% Reduction Energy Goal For Eastford Elementary School"; Lillian Hyde, who majors in Biology and gave an oral presentation titled "Assessment Of Microglial Function In Brain And Blood Microenvironments"; Benjamin Sullivan, who majors in Visual Arts and presented artwork titled "Molten Yolk." "Marketing Biodegradable Plastic And Making A Cleaner World"; and Julia Thompson, who majors in Social Work and gave a poster presentation titled "Milking For Profit" and "Fixed Asset Tracking in Nonprofit Health Care." CREATE featured more than 200 students of all majors who led oral and poster presentations, panel discussions, music and dance performances, art and photography exhibitions, as well as documentary viewings and new-media demonstrations.

- Wheaton College student Emily Guersch of Collinsville performed in the spring 2018 Symphonic Band concert. Guersch played clarinet. The Wheaton College Symphonic Band performs traditional and contemporary wind band music. The Symphonic Band includes both music majors and liberal arts majors who enjoy a close community and sharing their musical gifts.
