CANTON, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Goodwin College, East Hartford CT

  • Canton resident Jane Rose has achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average at Goodwin College for the spring 2018 session, earning a spot on the elite President's List. To qualify for the President's List, a student must be enrolled in at least six credits at Goodwin College and earn perfect marks in all classes. She also earned a spot on the Goodwin College Dean's List, one of 932 students who demonstrate great academic performance. Dean's List inclusion requires a student to earn a minimum 3.5 GPA, the equivalent of an A- average, during a given academic session. The student must also be enrolled in a minimum of six academic credits to qualify.

  • Joshua Powell of Collinsville was selected to serve as Orientation Group Leader (OGL) for the 2018 Summer Orientation and Registration (SOAR) program at Western New England University. SOAR helps set the stage for academic readiness and successful community integration to Western New England University. OGLs help new students transition during SOAR by providing entering students and parents with information and structure for effective adjustment to the university environment. OGLs are students who have consistently modeled solid citizenship and active participation in the Western New England Community. They are selected for their strong communication skills, their leadership qualities, and their ability to build relationships with students and families. Powell is working toward a degree in Marketing-Communication/Advertising.
