Champlain College, Burlington VT

  • Lindsay Sugar of Canton received an Education and Human Studies Divisional Award at Champlain College on Wednesday, April 12 at Champlain College's campus in Burlington, Vt. Sugar is a Secondary Education-Social Studies major.

  • The Eastern Connecticut State University men's basketball team concluded its 2016-17 season this March with a stellar 21-9 record, becoming champions of the Little East Conference (LEC). Among the team's student-athletes was David Canny of Collinsville, who played center. Canny majors in Health Sciences. He averaged 7 points per game, 3.4 rebounds per game and 0.5 assists per game.
  • A group of students from Eastern Connecticut State University recently participated in a global field course (GFC) to conduct research in the Mojave and Great Basin Deserts. The students were accompanied by Assistant Biology Professors W. Brett Mattingly and Matthew Graham. Lillian Hyde of Collinsville was one of the students who attended. Hyde's major is Biology.
  • Nine environmental earth science (EES) students from Eastern Connecticut State University toured the state of Arizona this past March to examine its rich geological heritage. Accompanied by EES Professors Dickson Cunningham and Peter Drzewiecki, the group hiked into the Grand Canyon, studied the colorful stratigraphy of Sedona, climbed cinder cone volcanoes and explored the stunning geology and desert ecosystems of the Sonoran Desert. Among the students was Alexia Bohnenkamper of Collinsville, who majors in Environmental Earth Science.

Emerson College, Boston MA

  • Emily Barger of Canton has been named to the Emerson College Dean's List for the fall 2016 semester. Barger is majoring in Film Production. The requirement to make Emerson's Dean's List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher.

Fairleigh Dickinson University, Madison NJ

  • Emma Plourd of Canton, a student at Fairleigh Dickinson University's Florham Campus, located in Madison, NJ has been named to the Dean's List for the fall 2016 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, a student must carry a 3.2 or better grade point average out of a possible 4.0 and be enrolled in a minimum of 12 letter-graded hours (four courses).
