Canton 2021 Election Voter Guide: Meet The Candidates

CANTON, CT — On Tuesday, Nov. 2, Canton residents will cast their votes for a number of key municipal positions in town. Positions on the boards of selectmen, finance and education, among other positions, are up for grabs.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Nov. 2. Voters who are in line before 8 p.m. will be able to vote even after the deadline passes. You can find your poll location at the Secretary of the State website by inputting your information.

You can request an absentee ballot here or you can visit your town clerk's office. All voters are eligible to check the top box that lists "COVID-19" as a reason for requesting an absentee ballot.

In Canton, candidates for the Board of Selectmen include Democratic incumbents Gail Deutsch and William Volovski and Republican Stephen Sedor. Voters choose up to two.

For the Board of Finance, the candidates are Democrats Sarah Faulkner, Sue Gentile and Michelle Winkler and Republicans Tom Blatchley and Andrew Ziemba. Voters choose up to three.

For the Board of Education, the Democratic candidates are Peggy Steinway, Felicia Jordan and Cindy Moeller. The Republican candidates are Russell Bush, Paul Barrow and Ryan O'Donnell. Voters choose up to three.

Additionally, Democrat Lou Daniels and Republican Christine Lamadrid are running to fill a vacancy on the Board of Education for two years.

For the Board of Assessment Appeals, it's Democrat Michael Pendell versus Republican Bradley Parliman.
