Canton Athletes Experience Success at Class S Indoor Track Championships

Seven individual Warriors and a relay team scored points during the state meet in New Haven.

Jacob Whittingslow placed in the top three in two events to lead the Canton High School indoor track team to a fifth-place showing in the Class S Championships Friday at the Floyd Little Athletic Center in New Haven.

Whittingslow took second in the 3,200 meter run and third in the 1,000 meters. John Solomon also had a second-place effort in the high jump.

Stephen Oliver (pole vault) and William Briggs (shot put) took fourth place, while Dustin Van Kirk was fifth in the 55 meter hurdles.

On the girls’ side, Abigail Briggs was sixth in the 600 meter run, while the 4x200 relay team of Lucy Tanner, Emily Mitchell, Elizabeth Raynor and Amber Harraden also finished sixth.
