CANTON, CT — Canton's Giv Coffee has been named Food & Wine Magazine's best coffee shop in Connecticut.

The magazine recently named the best coffee shop in each state, and had this to say about Giv Coffee:

"Everybody in the business talks about sustainability, about paying fair prices for coffee, and the benefits of strengthened ties between grower and roaster; some genuinely walk the walk, like Giv Coffee in Canton, which isn't just the coziest little coffee joint tucked into a converted single family home by the side of the highway, within spitting distance of any number of Dunkin' outlets; this is also one of the country's most thoughtful roasters, which has a lot to do with owners Jeff and Emily Brooks and the way they see the world—coffee isn't just making a living, it's a way to give back, to have a positive impact."

The Albany Turnpike (Route 44) establishment opened in 2015, according to the shop's website. Co-owners Jeff and Emily Brooks spent time traveling and working overseas, especially with those in need. When they returned to the States, they decided to combine their love of coffee with a philanthropic mission.

"All of our coffees are purchased responsibly and farmers get a fair price for their crop," the website reads. "On top of this, we give directly to those in need from the proceeds of each bag we sell."
