Canton Crash Leads to Driver's Arrest on Narcotics Charges

The driver was found with large quantities of both prescription and illicit drugs in his possession, police said.

CANTON, CT - A rollover crash in Canton Saturday evening led to discovery of a large amount of narcotics and the arrest of the driver.

Around 6:39 p.m., Canton police responded to the report of a rollover motor vehicle accident near 145 Cherry Brook Road. Responding personnel found a single vehicle and its lone occupant at the scene, Capt. Lawrence Terra said.

In the course of investigating the accident, officers discovered large quantities of both prescription and illicit drugs in possession of the driver. The driver was arrested without incident and transported to police headquarters, Terra said.

Nicholas T. Nardello, of 5 Greystone, Canton, was charged with two counts of possession of narcotics, three counts of possession with intent to distribute, illegal storage of narcotics, possession of drugs/marijuana, sale of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of alcohol by a minor and failure to drive in proper lane.

Nardello was released on a $250,000 nonsurety bond, and is scheduled to appear in Hartford Superior Court July 7.

This continues to be an active and ongoing investigation by the Canton Police Department, Terra said.
