Canton Girls Place Second at NCCC Cross Country Championships

The Warriors had five girls and three boys named to the All-NCCC team.

Eight Canton High School runners qualified for the All-NCCC cross country team by virtue of their excellent performances in the league championship meet Saturday at Windsor Locks High School.

The girls’ team finished second to Suffield, but placed five team members on the All-NCCC squad. Emily Briggs placed second to Ava Roche of Somers individually, while teammates Abigail Briggs (10th), Belle Magna (13th), Cameron McCauley (14th) and Helena Winkler (15th) all ran strong races.

On the boys’ side, Jake Whittingslow led the way with a fifth-place performance, while Ethan Porter (11th) and Zachary Oliver (14th) also had outstanding efforts to make the all-conference team.
