Canton Library Class to Help Families Coping With Dementia
Dianne Davis, RN (Yale), MS-Nursing, describes stages of dementia, patient characteristics, typical problems, and best coping strategies.

On Thursday, May 30, at 6:30 p.m., Canton Library has invited Dianne Davis, RN (Yale), MS-Nursing, to present a program to help explain how to keep families going when dementia enters people’s lives. It’s called, “Coping with Dementia: Strategies for Families.” Dianne unfolds her talk through a Power Point presentation describing the stages of dementia, the patient characteristics and problems arising within each stage. She’ll offer helpful and appropriate coping strategies for family care givers. Resources that provide support for care giving are also reviewed.
A former longtime geriatric case manager for individuals with dementia and their families at the Adler Geriatric Assessment Center (Yale-New Haven Hospital), Dianne now works as Outreach and Education Coordinator for Yale Alzheimer's Disease Research Center. She is an Alzheimer's Association volunteer and chair of the New Haven Walk to End Alzheimer's. Time for questions follows her free talk.
