Canton Library To Disable Its App; New App Expected In June

The Canton Public Library says its current app will stop this week.

CANTON, CT — The Canton Public Library announced Monday its current mobile app will stop working this week as its consortium, Library Connection, transitions to a new library system.

The migration, scheduled for this spring, will introduce a new catalog, a new mobile app, and a new interface for library staff, the library said in a public notice.

“If you use our app, you have probably seen this message over the last couple of weeks. It’s true,” the library said. “This spring, Library Connection (our library consortium) is migrating to a whole new library system.”

Library officials said the existing app will “cease functioning this week,” with a replacement expected in early June. The library said it will notify users when the new app becomes available.

In the interim, patrons who rely on the app to store their library card are advised to save a screenshot of their barcode or use a physical card.

Users will still be able to access their accounts and search the catalog through the library’s website during the transition.

“Access to Libby/Overdrive and other online services will not be affected,” the library said.

Library officials said additional updates will be provided as the transition progresses.
