Canton Library Reschedules 'Percy Jackson' Party

The celebration in honor of the children's literature/movie character has been moved to Jan. 12 due to Saturday/Sunday's expected snowstorm.

CANTON, CT — The Canton Public Library was supposed to have a big "Percy Jackson" party on Saturday, Jan. 6.

But the unofficial arrival of Old Man Winter (and several inches of expected snow) has prompted library officials to reschedule the highly anticipated event to Friday, Jan. 12, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the library, which is located at 40 Dyer Ave.

"Percy Jackson" is, sort of, an American version of the famous British fantasy children's literature series "Harry Potter."

The books are popular among tweens and young teens and it has spawned a couple of movies and a new Disney + television series that just debuted.

"Hopefully, the weather on Friday will let us go ahead with all the exciting activities we've planned and we'll also be serving the participants (kids ages 9-13) a pizza dinner around the 'campfire,'" wrote the library.
