Canton Nature Center Program Could Save Your Life
The Roaring Brook Nature Center Sunday is hosting a program teaching survival skills to those who get lost in the woods during winter.

CANTON, CT — Getting lost in the woods is scary no matter what time of year or what time of day.
But if you get lost in the woods during winter and it gets dark, Jack Frost's wrath could have you seeing curtains sooner rather than later.
The Roaring Brook Nature Center in Canton, however, is hosting a special program on Sunday where folks will learn exactly how to survive the horror of being lost in the woods in winter.

And taking this course may just save you and your family's lives.
It will take place at the nature center from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21. The nature center is located at 70 Gracey Road, Canton.

Called "Family Winter Survival,"the event will allow families to learn the basic supplies necessary to survive a night outdoors should the worst happen and how to use them.
Participants are asked to dress for cold weather and, according to early forecasts, that will be necessary.
The program is also not geared for children under 9.
The fee is $11 each or $36 for a family of four, according to the nature center.
Easy, online registration is available and the registration deadline for the program is 5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 20.
