
Arthur L. Plumley, 84, of Canton, beloved husband of Harriet I. (Frodyma) Plumley passed away Thursday, March 24, 2016.
Born December 20, 1931 in Oklahoma City, OK, son of the late F. Leroy and Ruth (Jayne) Plumley. He lived in South Windsor for many years before moving to Canton in 2005. Arthur held Bachelor's, Master's and Doctorate degrees in chemistry and was employed over 35 years at Alstom as a chemist before retiring in 1998. Professionally he held several patents and was a member of many scientific societies and organizations, serving as an advisor and on several boards. Arthur had a passion for travel, and his work as a research chemist enabled him to travel the world. During his lifetime he developed many hobbies and interests, including photography, gardening, stamp collecting, birdwatching and painting. Arthur was an exceptional individual, admired by many and very devoted to his family.
Besides Harriet, his wife of 60 years, he is survived by a son, Evan Plumley of South Windsor; two daughters, Alison Barto and her husband Ron of Avon, Kristen Plumley and her husband Jeff Summerville of Ridgewood, NJ. Arthur took great delight in his four grandchildren who survive him, Nick, Ben, Annie and Henry.

A memorial service will be held Monday, March 28, 2016, 11 AM, at the Carmon Funeral Home and Family Center of Avon, 301 Country Club Rd., Avon.
