
John Patrick Flattery, 76, of Canton, beloved husband of Bonnie (St. Pierre) Flattery, died on Saturday, December 9, 2017.
He was born August 11, 1941 in Hartford, son of the late Patrick Joseph and Margaret (Rogers) Flattery. He graduated from the University of Hartford and was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Collinsville.
John proudly served his country in the Army. He spent his career of 31 years in public utilities, retiring as a Senior Engineering Technician for Northeast Utilities (Eversource) in 2004. He enjoyed building, woodworking, building, sailing , cooking, dancing, and doing sudoku puzzles.

In addition to his wife, Bonnie, he is survived by his children, Brigid Flattery and her husband Wayne Barnes of Arlington, VA, Candace Freedenberg and her husband Philip James Freedenberg of Canton, and Shannon Sharp and her husband Jonathan Sharp of Brooklyn, NY; grandchildren, Aimé, Jack and Mark Freedenberg of Canton, and Julian, Naomi and Susana Sharp of Brooklyn, NY; his brothers, Michael Flattery and his wife Gail Flattery of Newington, and William Flattery of Rocky Hill; and a brother-in- law, Jack St. Pierre and his wife Karen St. Pierre of Burlington.
Relatives and friends may join the family for calling hours on Friday, December 15th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at The Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton. Funeral will be Saturday, December 16th, 12:15 PM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 1:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Church in Collinsville. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Avon.
