
Joseph Raymond Dudack, 83, of East Granby, beloved husband for 53 years of Arline Helen (Zagula) Dudack, passed away at his home on Monday, September 26, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Hartford on August 23, 1933, son of the late Leon and Wladyslawa (Zelinski) Dudack, he was raised in Windsor and graduated from Windsor High School in 1951. Joseph continued his education at the University of Connecticut and soon after was drafted into the United Stated Army. After his honorable discharge, he enrolled at the Connecticut State Teacher's College in New Britain where he completed his bachelor's degree in education in 1961.
Joseph began his teaching career at Bloomfield High School where he taught mathematics for 8 years. During that time, he received National Science Foundation Grants to College of the Holy Cross and the University of Notre Dame. He was also awarded a four year National Science Foundation Grant to the University of Buffalo where he received his 2nd masters' degree in Education. After working at Canton High School for 27 years as Department Chairman of Mathematics, he retired in 1998. Joseph also worked on the weekends for many years at H.P. Kopplemann, Inc. in Hartford and during his retirement at the East Granby Post Office.

A resident of East Granby for over 52 years, Joseph was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Poquonock. A dedicated sports fan, he especially loved watching UConn Men's and Women's Basketball and the New York Yankees. Joseph enjoyed cruising all over the world with his wife and spending time with his children and grandchildren. Most of all, Joseph will be remembered as a kind and thoughtful man. Joseph loved sending and receiving cards and never missed an occasion to send one to his family.
Besides his loving wife Arline, he leaves eight daughters, Valerie Sedor, her husband John and their children, Natalie, Zachary, Nicholas, and Madeline of Colchester, Claudia Brooks, her husband Doug and their children, Mackenzie and Grant of Dublin, OH, Jocelyn Cabello, her husband Ernesto and their children, Gabriela, Juliana, and David of Hauppauge, NY, Felicia Lazor, her husband Larry and their children, Jack, Matthew, and Sophia of West Hartford, Carla Case, her husband Jeffrey and their children, Abigail and Andrew of East Granby, Marisa Betts, her husband Kevin and their children, Colby, Melina, and Maya of East Granby, Vanessa Caron, her husband Robert and their children, Gianna and Vincent of East Granby, and Alana Seifert, her husband Kurt and their children, Vivian Cecilia, Josef, and Luke of Vienna, VA. He also leaves his brother, George and his wife Wanda of Windsor. He was predeceased by five brothers, Leon, Theodore, John, Edward, and Bernard Dudack.

His family will receive friends on Thursday, September 29, 4-8 p.m., at the Carmon Windsor Funeral Home, 807 Bloomfield Ave., Windsor. Please join the family at St. Joseph Church, 1747 Poquonock Ave., Windsor, for a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, September 30, at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Windsor.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff at McLean Hospice for their care and support.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Joseph R. Dudack Scholarship Fund, c/o Windsor Federal Savings, 250 Broad St., Windsor, CT 06095 to be awarded to an East Granby High School graduate pursuing a degree in Education specializing in mathematics/science, or to McLean Development, Attn: Hospice, 75 Great Pond Road, Simsbury, CT 06070.
