Canton Obituary: Louis Rotondo, 88

Condolences to his family and friends.

Louis Paul Rotondo, 88, of Collinsville, husband of the late Mary (Bucknam) Rotondo, died Saturday, January 30, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born December 15, 1927 in Simsbury, son of the late Claude and Michelina (Capone) Rotondo and had lived in Collinsville most of his life. He was a Veteran of World War II having served in the U. S. Army. Mr. Rotondo was owner/operator of the Canton Sunoco Garage with his brothers. After many dedicated years at the garage, he then became the Assistant Business Manager for the Simsbury Board of Education. After his retirement, he enjoyed playing with his grandchildren, making homemade Italian bread, along with pizza and meatballs. Every Sunday dinner was a masterpiece. Some of his favorite pastimes included crossword puzzles, walking with Paul, and doing yardwork. Louis was also a fan of the Boston Red Sox and the UConn Women’s Basketball. He was a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Collinsville.

He is survived by his four children, Anne Mitchell and her husband Jim, Mary Lou, Susan and her Fiancé Timothy Cifone, Stephen Rotondo of Simsbury; His brother, Paul Rotondo and his wife Annamae of Canton, his grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Susan, Daniel, Rachel and Emma and Juliana and Jake; And his great grandson, Maddox. His sisters-in-law, Shirley Rotondo, Joyce Rotondo and Anne Yantz; his brothers-in-law, Richard Ricci and Frank Bucknam and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Delio, Dante and Claude; his sister, Dena Ricci; his sisters-in-law, Marcella Rotondo and Clare Bucknam; his brother-in-law; Harold Yantz and his best friend, Paul Flieger.

Friends may call at the Vincent Funeral Home, 120 Albany Turnpike in Canton on Thursday, February 4th from 4:00 PM to 7:00. PM. Funeral will be Friday, February 5th, 9:15 AM from the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 AM at St. Patrick’s Church in Collinsville. Burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Tariffville.
