Canton Obituary: Michelle Rotondo, 82

Condolences to her family and friends.

Michelle Morillon Rotondo, wife of the late Amos Rotondo, died peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2016 surrounded by family and friends.

She leaves her sister, Francoise Morillon and niece, Sandrine Delcroix, both of Paris, France; daughters, Christine Dorvel of Boston and Lorraine Wozniak of New Britain; son-in-law, Mark Wozniak of Farmington; sister-in-law, Laura Rotondo Bisson of Avon; three grandchildren, Christopher Walek, Emily Walek, and Elizabeth Wozniak; several nieces and nephews in CT, MA and WA; and her beloved cat Lily.

Michelle was born July 10, 1933 in Vincennes, France, daughter of Andre and Marie-Melanie (Jallat) Morillon. Due to the outbreak of World War II, in 1940 she was sent with her sister to stay with her aunt and uncle in Collemiers, France, a small town south of Paris. It was there that she spent most of the Occupation. In 1952, at the age of 19, after completing French studies in couture design, Michelle immigrated alone to New York City on the QE I. She married Amos Rotondo of Simsbury and celebrated 57 years of marriage until Amos’ passing in 2013. As a long time resident of Canton, Michelle sang in the choir at St Patrick’s Church in Collinsville, was an avid reader, artist, and student of history.
