Canton Obituary: Richard Bunnell, 69

Condolences to his family and friends.

Richard "Ned" L. Bunnell, 69, of Avon, beloved husband of Geraldine (Andrews) Bunnell, passed away at John Dempsey Hospital after a brief illness on Monday, May 15, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Hartford, son of the late John R. and Anna (Seelye) Bunnell, he was raised in Bristol and moved to Clearwater, FL. He earned his BA in Finance from the University of FL and he went on to earn three Masters Degrees: an MA from Central CT State College, an MS in Computer Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and an MS in Economic Crime Management from Utica College.

He was employed by Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co. then MassMutual Life Insurance Co. until his retirement in 2015. He was owner and operator of Digital Forensics, LLC and past president of the High-Tech Crime Investigator's Association.

He and his wife have lived in Avon since 1984. Ned was an active man and enjoyed writing poetry, woodworking, hiking, biking, and kayaking. He served on the board of the Avon Library and was a member of the Canton Chamber of Commerce.

He and his wife taught Sunday School for over 30 years at their church, The First Congregational Church, Canton Center. He also was an active volunteer with the Silver Lake Conference Center in Sharon for over 40 years.

Besides his wife, Geri, of 36 years; he leaves a son John F. Bunnell and his wife Jennifer of Burlington; a brother Robert Bunnell and his wife Katie of TX; a sister Barbara Quinton of FL; and three nephews Joshua Walsh and his wife Katie, Bryan Bunnell and his wife Victoria, and Bradley Bunnell.

His family will receive friends, Friday, May 19, 2017 from 5-8 pm at the Carmon Funeral Home & Family Center, 301 Country Club Road, Avon. A Celebration of Ned's life will be held Saturday, May 20, 2017, 10 am at the First Congregational Church, Canton Center, 184 Cherry Brook Road, Canton. The Rev. Brenda Pelc-Faszcza will officiate. A reception will follow the service.
