Canton Obituary: Robert Glynn, Jr., 64

Condolences to his family and friends.

Robert M. Glynn, Jr., 64, of Canton, passed away on December 26, 2017 at New York Presbyterian Hospital in the presence of his loving family. He was the husband of Janet (Couchon) Glynn and shared 24 happily married years together.

Born in Hartford on June 15, 1953 he was the son of the late Robert M. Glynn Sr. and Isabelle (Sandwell) Glynn. He graduated Farmington High School in 1971 and proceeded to earn an associate’s degree. He was currently employed at Travelers Insurance Company Inc. as a Technical Director of Operations for 41 years.

Bob was a beloved member of St. Patrick’s Parish in Collinsville. He was parish council president for several years, head chef of the G.I.F.T. program and played guitar in the church choir. Bob enjoyed playing music most of all. Anyone that knew Bob knew that music was his passion.

Bob will be remembered for his selfless heart, his joyous presence, his positive and uplifting music and attitude and most of all his ability to make you laugh on your darkest days. Bob was a lung transplant recipient in 2014 and was grateful to his medical staff at NYP.

Bob’s spirit will live on through his wife, Janet; children, Jennifer, Ryan and Molly; son-in-law, Sam; and grandchildren, Marcus and Amber. He is also survived by his brother, Steven Glynn and his wife Marie, his sister, Karen Till and her husband Bruce, and several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. Bob was predeceased by his sister Rosemary Marek of Farmington.

Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Tuesday January 2nd, 2018 from 4:00-7:00pm. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be Wednesday January 3rd, 2018 at 9:15am followed by the Funeral Liturgy in St. Patrick’s Parish, 7 Burlington Ave. Collinsville at 10:00am. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Avon.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in his name to the National Foundation for Transplants and mailed to 5350 Poplar Ave, Suite 850 Memphis, TN 38119 or donations can be made on their website at www.transplants.org.
