Canton Offices/Schools Closed, Parking Ban In Effect Due To Blizzard Emergency
Canton offices close and parking ban takes effect as Connecticut declares winter storm emergency.
CANTON, CT — Town offices and public schools in Canton are closed on Monday, Feb. 23, due to inclement winter weather, town and school officials announced Sunday.
The Canton Police Department said a parking ban is in effect from 6 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 22, through 6 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24, because of the storm.
The Canton Emergency Response Team, an all-volunteer group that assists during natural disasters, said the governor has declared a state of emergency in Connecticut ahead of the winter storm.

A commercial vehicle travel ban takes effect at 5 p.m. on Sunday, the group said.
Residents are strongly urged to avoid unnecessary travel, officials said.
