CANTON, CT — The town's top elected official this week delivered a heart-felt message to residents regarding the upcoming summer season.

With school done and summer vacation started for area children, Canton First Selectman Kevin Witkos offered a quick message on how folks should enjoy summer and be safe.

"Please be aware of the increased bicycle and pedestrian traffic throughout the day. Please slow down and enjoy our town," he wrote.

In addition to enjoying the recreation programs Canton has to offer, Witkos urged folks to shop locally and "say hello to one of our many small business merchants."

He then said folks should simply make memories this summer and be healthy.

Said Witkos: "Spend time with family and friends, take a deep breath, stay hydrated and relax."
