Canton Officials Use Drill to Prepare for Emergencies
Drill focused on preparing for and responding to an ice storm.

The Town of Canton participated in a statewide emergency preparedness drill. The exercise was designed to help town staff identify ways to improve preparation and response in case of emergency.
A few statewide drills have been held since Connecticut was hit with two 100-year storms in the past two years. Today's drill simulated a major ice storm.
Officials and emergency personnel met, as in the town's emergency operations center, and a Connecticut Light & Power representative was also present. The power company has been "embedding" personnel in town emergency centers to improve communication surrounding power outages and restoration times.
Canton Fire Marshal Adam Libros said the drill went well.
"We are well accustomed to preparing for and responding to winter storms, including ice storms," Libros said by email Thursday. "Our town agencies ‘prepared’ for the storm by ensuring equipment was fueled and ready for response."
