"Both of these platforms will greatly increase your ability to be notified in an emergency," wrote police.
"While not a complete fail-safe, as sometimes technology is not perfect, your participation in these platforms will help Canton police get important information to you in the event of an emergency."
According to police, the platforms allow emergency notifications to be made either town-wide or to a specifically identified area.
Police released a flyer that allows residents to scan QR Codes to sign up for the state and local Emergency Notification platforms.
