The Canton Police Department has set up an email account for the public to utilize if they see a reckless driver or speeder in town.

CANTON, CT — Motorists driving dangerously in Canton really need to watch out.

That's because the Canton Police Department is encouraging people to report speeders or reckless drivers to them.

Recently, the department set up an email account where folks can, simply, send an email to police and they'll investigate reckless driving and excess speeding reports.

"Canton values the public's input and cooperation to enhance community safety," wrote the town via its website.

"As part of the commitment to keep Canton a safe town, the Canton Police Department has created an email for residents to report speeding, distracted or unsafe drivers."

Tipsters should provide as much information as possible about the offending vehicle, such as date, time, location, direction of travel, frequency of observations, registration plate number/letters or vehicle features.

The Canton Police Department will use this information to conduct follow-up investigation and appropriate enforcement action.

The email is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Reckless driving in town has been an issue in recent years, with serious accidents piling up in town and local leaders calling for folks to, simply, slow down.
