Canton Police Cracking Down On Distracted Driving

Police will step up distracted driving enforcement in April, urging residents to limit phone use and stay focused.

CANTON, CT — The Canton Police Department will increase enforcement efforts throughout April as part of Distracted Driving Awareness Month, officials announced.

Starting April 1, officers are focused on identifying and stopping drivers who are distracted, particularly by mobile devices.

The initiative is part of a broader campaign to reduce crashes and improve road safety in town.

Police said the enforcement effort is intended to complement personal responsibility behind the wheel.

“Safety starts with you,” the department said in its announcement.

Officials also outlined steps drivers can take to reduce distractions, including silencing phones or using “Do Not Disturb” settings, setting navigation before driving, and asking passengers to assist with directions or communication.

“Stay focused. It could save a life,” the department said.
