Canton Schools In Search Of Classroom Paraeducators

CANTON, CT — Canton Public Schools will hold a job fair Tuesday, Nov. 3, as the district looks to fill multiple paraeducator positions in its schools and specialized programs.

The event will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Canton Community Center, 40 Dyer Ave.

District officials announced that several paraeducator positions are immediately available.

Paraeducators, also known as paraprofessionals, instructional assistants, or teacher's aides, work under the supervision of licensed teachers to support students and assist with classroom activities.

Their responsibilities can vary depending on the school and program but may include:

• Classroom assistance: Helping teachers prepare instructional materials, supervise students, and manage daily classroom activities.
• Individualized instruction: Working with students individually or in small groups to reinforce lessons and develop academic skills.
• Special education support: Assisting students with disabilities and helping implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) under teacher supervision.
• Student supervision: Monitoring students during lunch, recess, classroom transitions, and other school activities.
• Administrative support: Preparing classroom materials, organizing supplies, and assisting with routine clerical tasks.
• Language assistance: Supporting English language learners when appropriate.

The district is seeking applicants for positions in both general school settings and specialized educational programs.
