Canton Senior Center to Host Infomational Event for Low-Vision

There will be eye screenings and other resources available.

On Friday, March 13th between 10am-12noon, the Canton Senior Center will hold a Low-Vision event with various groups providing resources for those who are visually impaired or have family members with visual impairments.


The Canton Lion’s Club will be supporting free geriatric eye exams with consults with Dr. Bonelli of Canton. For this, reservations are requested, however walk-ins are welcome. In addition to the eye screenings, CRIS (Connecticut Information Radio System) Radio will be present with resources, supplies and radios.

Chris Kelly will hold a brief demonstration at 11 a.m. and present a new CRIS Radio to the Canton Seniors. CRIS Radio is Connecticut’s only radio reading service and broadcasts 24 hours a day 7 days a week for those who are unable to read printed material. The Bureau of Education and Services for the Blind (BESB), part of Department of Rehabilitation Services, will have resources and gadgets to assist you in your home.
