Canton Village Refurb A 'Miracle of Miracles'

Collinsville infrastructure project continues along.

CANTON, CT — Calling it a "miracle of miracles," town officials on the Canton website Friday announced further, positive developments on the Collinsville Streetscape project.

The $1.3 million project aims to transform the neighborhood there from a sea of cracked and decaying sidewalks into a modernized, clean village featuring new sidewalks and curbs.

The town regularly updates residents on its website, with the latest one coming Friday morning.

"Miracle of miracles, the radius granite curbing is arriving this morning," wrote the town Friday. "This will permit the crew to begin installation and continue on with the project."

Canton officials admitted to a few days of relative inactivity at the job site, but work is progressing to finish the project.

Meanwhile, town officials are asking motorists traveling in the Collinsville area to be mindful of the construction workers there.

They say drivers need to slow down and exercise caution, so as to avoid hitting anybody.

"Please keep in mind that construction workers are in the roadway during this project," wrote Canton officials Friday. "Safety is always paramount, please spread the word for drivers to slow down when passing through the work area."

The town also warned that parking in that area may be limited too.

Still, businesses in the area will remain open and accessible during construction and Main Street will remain open during construction.
