Canton Woman Dies Following Crash With Bus
The woman had to be extricated from her vehicle, and was later pronounced dead at a hospital.

CANTON, CT — An elderly Canton woman died Wednesday as a result of injuries sustained in a collision between her vehicle and a Connecticut Transit bus.
At 12:24 p.m., Canton police and emergency personnel received a 911 call that a car and bus had been involved in an accident on Dowd Avenue near Dunham Road. First responders found both vehicles off the roadway, with a woman needing to be extricated from her car by Canton firefighters, Capt. Lawrence Terra said.
The lone occupant of the car, Helen Ricard, 79, was transported to an area hospital, and later succumbed to her injuries, Terra said.

The bus driver, Eugene Rivers, 42, of Enfield, was the lone occupant of that vehicle. He sustained minor injuries, Terra said.
The crash remains under investigation, and any witnesses are asked to contact the Canton Police Department at (860) 693-0221.
