CANTON, CT — One of Canton's biggest traditions is reading and rearing to go on Saturday, with the 29th annual Collinsville Halloween Parade marking the calendars of many locals.

Dating back to 1994, this event allows families, groups and other organizations to gather in the Collinsville section of town and march amid the mid-autumn twilight, adding a spooky ambiance to a spooky time of year.

This year's event begins with the formation at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, on Main Street in Collinsville.

Because this event usually draws a large crowd, some traffic control measures and road closures will be in place.

Town officials said motorists should expect a heavy presence of pedestrian and vehicular traffic and various road closures during the event.

Motorists are reminded to drive carefully.

There will be no street side parking on Main Street from Front Street to River Street starting at 5 p.m.

Portions of Main Street, the green and Front Street will be closed to vehicular traffic between 6 and 10 p.m. to allow for the parade.

The town municipal parking lot will be open until it is filled.
