UPDATE: Young Girl Killed by Falling Tree Identified
The child was struck late Sunday afternoon, and succumbed to her injuries.

UPDATE, 2:45 p.m.
The victim of Sunday's accident has been identified as Allison Doyle, a seventh-grade student at Canton Middle School, according to an email sent by school officials to NBC Connecticut.
Superintendent of Schools Kevin Case described her as a "sweet young woman who was a wonderful and true friend."
"She was extremely hard working and always did her best in the classroom, on the field hockey team, and in band," Case said according to NBC Connecticut.
Counselors were also available at the school Monday.
UPDATE, 9:20 a.m.
A young girl who was struck by a falling tree on Old Mill Drive late Sunday afternoon has died as a result of her injuries, the Canton Compass reported.
LifeStar had been called to the scene, but canceled when immediate transport became necessary, according to the Compass.

CANTON, CT - A child was seriously injured by a falling tree in Canton late Sunday afternoon, WFSB-TV reported.
LifeStar helicopter was called to transport the child to an area hospital with serious injuries. The unidentified child's condition is not known.
The incident occurred on Old Mill Drive.
