Company Backs Out of Negotiations for Canton Hydropower Plant

The company said costs were too high upfront and there was too much risk.

The Town of Canton is looking for another partner company for the Farmington River hydropower project after a prospective partner backed out of negotiations.

Negotiations with Citizens Enterprise Corp. ceased, according to the Hartford Courant.

The town is considering using a dam in Collinsville and possible another one in Avon and Burlington as well to produce hydropower.

The proposed project would create enough power for 1,500 homes.
