Company Nixes Idea of Cell Tower at Community Center, Interested in Collinsville Fire Station
Board of Selectmen discusses options.

The vendor looking to potentially put an additional cell tower in Collinsville is currently not interested in the community center as a site, Chief Adminstrative Officer Robert Skinner told selectmen Wednesday.
Today field test balloons were due to be flown at the community center but won’t be necessary, he said.
The company is still potentially interested in placing one at the Collinsville fire station, Skinner said.

The board has not committed to the idea of one on town property but is gathering more information. Some have said that an additional tower in Collinsville would likely go on private property if the town does not take it, leaving Canton without the revenue or any control.
Skinner also said Wednesday that the town could also consider choosing a site where it would prefer a tower and then send out a Request for Proposal to see what companies would be interested.

“If were going to have it, I’d rather have it where we want it,” selectman David Gilchrist said.
