Craft Supply Swap Returns To Canton Public Library This Week

The 5th edition of the event starts with two drop-off dates this week and culminates this weekend with the actual swap.

CANTON, CT — Residents looking to clear out unused craft materials — or pick up supplies for a new project — will have the chance later this week as the Canton Public Library hosts its fifth annual Craft Supply Swap.

The free event invites community members to donate gently used crafting materials and exchange them for new-to-them supplies.

Donation drop-offs are scheduled for Thursday, March 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. and Friday, March 20, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library.

Anyone who brings one or more items to donate will receive an early-bird ticket for the swap.

The swap itself will take place Saturday, March 21, with early-bird access from 10 to 11 a.m. for donors. General admission will run 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until all items are claimed.

Library organizers say a wide range of crafting materials will be accepted, including yarn, fabric, tools, paper-crafting supplies, stickers, ribbon, beads, children’s craft kits, and craft-related books and magazines.

All donations must be in good, usable condition, and the library will not accept damaged, dirty, or otherwise unusable items.

Open containers of paint, glue, or similar materials are also prohibited.

Any supplies remaining after the event may be used by the library, donated elsewhere, or discarded, according to organizers.

While the swap is free to attend, the library will accept optional donations benefiting the Friends of the Canton Public Library, a group that supports library programming and services.
