Crews Continue Work on Dyer Avenue

Three methods being used on street.

Activity on Dyer Avenue will pick up this week as King Construction continues its work on the road.

The company is completing improvements on Dyer between Maple and Simonds avenues at a cost of $318,000.

The town's project administrator, Jeff Shea, who is overseeing construction, said King is using three different techniques since the condition of the road varies. Those include road reconstruction, reclamation and resurfacing. Drainage improvements, curb installation and some driveway apron reconstruction will also be done.

The road was identified as a priority in a recent pavement management study and is heavily used due to the location of the town's Intermediate School, community center and library.

There will be some inconvenience and delays but the hope is to it to a minimum, Shea said.

"We're looking to minimize the impact," he said.

The company has three months to complete the project but co-owner Jon King said the company hopes to finish sooner.

The company also plans to finish the portion of road by the intermediate school before the start of the school year.
