Dogology Hosts Third Annual 'Dogtoberfest' Celebration to Help Local Families and Pets in Need

Dogology is excited to be hosting its third annual Dogtoberfest celebration on Sat., Oct. 24 from noon to 4:00 pm at its store in Canton.

Dogtoberfest is a family-friendly - and dog-friendly - event will raise much-needed funds for a local dog rescue and the Farmington Valley’s only no-cost Pet Food Pantry maintained by Dogology.

During Dogtoberfest there will be loads of fun events throughout the day, including: face-painting for the kids; pet photography; a costume contest for people and their pets, with prizes sponsored by Fluff and Tuff Toys; a pie eating contest for dogs sponsored by Brownstone Bakery of Avon; a Cake Walk for people sponsored by Cake Gypsy of Canton and Avon; a chance to win a huge jar of dog cookies, sponsored by Darford; and more. Food will be available from the Big Red Food Truck.

Many of the vendors that do business at Dogology will be on hand to answers questions and provide samples to guests. Businesses joining the Dogtoberfest that day include: Carna4, Earth Animal, Bravo Raw Diet, Fromm, Wondercide, Primal Pet Foods, Wild Calling and more. Local businesses include PAW Veterinary Services, Kessler Kennels, Frontier Wellness Center, Best in Show Mobile Grooming, and others.

During the event, there will also be several guest speakers who will share their expertise with attendees about pet health and nutrition topics, including:

  • 12:30 pm: Dr. Bob and Susan Goldstein, founders of Westport-CT based Earth Animal will hold a solutions-focused conversation with guests. They will also be available to sign their books.
  • 1:30 pm: Bette Schubert, Founder of Manchester, CT-based Bravo Pet Foods will speak about pet nutrition.
  • 2:30 pm: David Stauble, Founder of Toronto-based Carna4 Hand-Crafted Dog Food will speak about pet food and nutrition.
  • 3:30pm: Bob Romig, from Pawsitively Purrfect Nutrition will speak on behalf of Wondercide.

Additionally, the first 100 guests at Dogtoberfest will receive a goodie bag chock full of great samples for their pets (one per family). All customers will receive 10% off their retail purchases that day.

To raise money for dog rescue as well as the continued operation of the Pet Food Pantry, there will be a tea cup raffle with amazing prizes! Guests are also encouraged to bring dog and cat food that they can donate to the Pet Food Pantry.

Dogology is located at 166 Albany Turnpike, in Canton, Conn. (behind the “Pink House”).

Dogs on leashes – and in costume – are always welcome!
