'Early Childhood Community Fair' This Saturday at Canton Library

Free children's information/entertainment & a wonderful children's art exhibit on 'Take Your Child to the Library Day,' February 2.

We're excited to be a part of the international celebration "Take Your Child to the Library Day!" on Saturday, February 2. Started right here in Connecticut, libraries across the state, the nation and the world enjoy programs for children, opportunities to check out books, DVDs, music and other materials, and meet members of their community at the library! In addition to free children’s entertainment during the day and a wonderful children’s art exhibit, explore our annual Early Childhood Community Fair happening from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

From 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., “The Eighth Annual Early Childhood Community Fair,” returns to Canton Public Library, co-sponsored by Canton Public Library and Canton Parents-as-Teachers (CPAT). The fair features resources and information on what’s available for young children and their families in Canton. Tables and booths set up in the Children’s Room of the library highlight various preschools, service providers, and activity specialists, and the benefits they provide for young children. Families seeking information about regional school open choice programs will find it here as well, as a representative the CT Regional School Choice Office will attend. We expect the Lions Club (provides vision screening), and Canton Social Services staff as well as area businesses. Some participants that will be especially fun for everyone are: Adam from Harris in Wonderland with live animal friends and the Canton Police Department! The activities are free and no registration is necessary. Especially for ages 5 and under and their parents/caregivers, the fair is co-sponsored by Canton Parents as Teachers (CPAT), and the library.

As an added delight, the 7th Annual Preschool Art Show is on display all month long! A lively and colorful exhibit will highlight art in the Children’s Room and the glass display case from many local daycare/nursery schools, as well as Canton residents. A special “milk and cookies” reception will be held on Wednesday, February 13, from 6:00-7:30 p.m.
